The short version: we don't collect your data, because the machine is built so we never receive it.

What we collect

Nothing, by design. soundmachine.app has no user accounts, no sign-up forms, no cookies set by us, no ad network, no advertising scripts and no third-party analytics or tracking scripts. Every page is a static file; there is no application database that could store anything about you.

Where your mixes live

Your active mix, saved favorites and settings (like night dim) are stored in your browser's localStorage on your device. They never leave it unless you share them yourself. Worth knowing:

• Clearing your browser data deletes your saved favorites.
• Mixes don't sync between devices or browsers; move one with a share link.
• Anyone using the same browser profile can see your saved mixes, like any local file.

How share links work

When you share a mix, the sound levels are encoded into the link's #fragment. Browsers do not send fragments to web servers, so your mix is not transmitted to us even when the link is opened. The link itself contains the mix, which is only a list of sound names and volumes.

Offline cache

The machine uses a service worker so it keeps working offline. Pages and any sounds you have played are cached by your own browser, on your device. That cache is yours; clearing site data removes it.

Server logs

Our hosting provider (Hostinger) keeps standard, short-lived web-server access logs (IP address, requested page, user agent) for security and operations, as virtually every website's host does. We don't use these logs to identify or profile visitors.

Analytics

There are currently no analytics on this site. If we ever add measurement, it will be a cookieless, privacy-respecting counter (no cross-site tracking, no personal identifiers), and this page will say so before it happens.

Partner links

One page on this site, the machine itself, carries a single clearly labelled partner link, to the sleep-mask maker Manta Sleep. It sits below a free suggestion that costs nothing, and it is marked as a partner link and carries a rel="sponsored" attribute. If you follow it and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

It is a plain outbound link and nothing more. No script, pixel, iframe or cookie from Manta Sleep is loaded into this site, and we send them nothing about you; the site's content-security policy blocks third-party requests outright, which you can confirm in your browser's network tools. The partner's own reporting tells us only anonymous totals, such as how many clicks a page sent, never who clicked or anything that identifies you. Following the link takes you to another company's website, which has its own privacy practices and begins tracking at that point, not on ours.

Children

soundmachine.app collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
