About the machine

soundmachine.app is a sound machine that lives in your browser: twelve sounds, a mixing board, presets, favorites and a sleep timer. No account, no app store, no price tag.

What it is

A mixer, not a playlist. You choose the sounds, set each one's level, and the machine plays your blend seamlessly for as long as you want it. Mixes can be saved as favorites on your device or shared as a plain link.

How the engine works

The natural sounds — rain, thunder, ocean, wind, forest, campfire, stream, night and the singing bowl — are field-style recordings released under open licenses, sourced through the open-source Moodist project (CC0 and Pixabay-licensed, free for any use). The engine crossfades each loop's tail into its own head, so there is no audible seam and no restart; a mix simply continues.

The white, pink and brown noise are not recordings. The machine generates them live with the Web Audio API: mathematically correct spectra with no loop and no file behind them.

Everything runs on your device. After the first visit the machine works offline, and audio keeps playing with the screen locked, through your phone's normal media controls.

What it refuses to do

• No accounts, no sign-up, no email capture.
• No cookies, no analytics, no third-party requests of any kind.
• No ads and no paywall. It is free, and staying that way.

Your mixes and settings live in your browser's local storage and never leave your device. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

The family

soundmachine.app is the mixing board of a small family of sound sites: rainsound.app goes deep on rain in English, and sonidolluvia.com does the same in Spanish. All three are built by plainforge, a one-person studio making small, honest web tools.
